Ideal 55's Stony Hill Wine Dinner

  • Petrossian West Hollywood 321 North Robertson Boulevard West Hollywood, CA, 90048 United States (map)

There are a handful of truly historic and extraordinary wineries in Napa that produce long-lived, balanced, and elegant wines. Those in the know are familiar with the brilliant bottlings from Stony Hill Vineyard. Ideal 55 is tremendously excited to welcome Stony Hill as our featured vineyard partner for our upcoming wine dinner on September 22, 2016 at Petrossian in West Hollywood.

Founded by the McCrea family in 1948, Stony Hill continues to be family owned and operated, producing 100% estate-grown wines from dry-farmed vineyards. The vineyards extend from 800 to 1,500 feet in elevation on a base of volcanic soils and limestone rock within the Spring Mountain District. Winemaker Mike Chelini has overseen production since 1973, continuing the signature restrained style and minimalist approach of Stony Hill’s original winemaker and founder, Fred McCrea.

Stony Hill is widely recognized for its Chardonnay and white wines. Think lean, bright wines with a mineral backbone, acidity, and overall elegance. Forget the toasty oak and butter; the wines are often mistaken for Grand Cru white Burgundy. The production now includes Cabernet, planted in 2004 and officially bottled in 2009. It’s old-world in style, balanced, nuanced, and beautiful.

Ideal 55 is thrilled to welcome Sarah McCrea, the president of operations and granddaughter of the original founders to join us on the night of the event. She will guide the evening and be on hand to talk about the rich history of Stony Hill.

These are some of the most special wines coming out of Napa today, and for the last 60 years. If you don’t know about them, join us. All guests in attendance will have the opportunity to purchase most of the wines in the lineup and join the Stony Hill list. It’s a terrific opportunity to discover some of the best that Napa has to offer.
