The 5th Annual Garagiste Festival: Southern Exposure (Solvang)

  • Solvang Veterans Memorial Hall 1745 Mission Drive Solvang, CA, 93463 United States (map)

We are excited to be bringing many of the best, hard-to-find, high-quality micro-production wineries from all over California to the Santa Ynez Valley for The 5th Annual Garagiste Festival: Southern Exposure.

The majority of our wineries do not have tasting rooms, and their wines can be very hard to find on store shelves. We make it easy for you to find a world of new wine discoveries all under one roof.

As with all Garagiste events, only the winemakers and/or owners (often the same person) will be pouring the wines. Come meet the artists who are making some of the most exciting and innovative wines in the world.

Over 40 wineries and 150 wines to taste - all in one place!

SATURDAY’S SEMINARS

From 11:00am-11:30am

“What’s Wrong With This Picture? Educate Your Palate About the Most Common Wine Flaws”
It might be April Fool’s Day but this seminar is no joke. There’s nothing worse than being disappointed by a bad bottle of great wine. Winemaking may be a science, but there are many pitfalls that can befall a wine on the way into the bottle. This seminar will explain the most common flaws and allow you to taste them firsthand so you are no longer left in the dark and on the hook. We know it won’t be pleasant (so we’re keeping it short), but it is extremely educational. A unique experience for all wine lovers!

From 11:45am-12:30pm:

“An Exploration of Grenache: Not Just for Blending Anymore”
Grenache is one of the most widely planted red grapes in the world, but outside of Chateauneuf-des-Papes it has yet to grab the world stage as a premiere player. We think this is about to change. Santa Barbara is a hot-bed of single vineyard grenache bottlings and we’re going to compare and contrast the wines from various SBC vineyards from three up-and-coming winemakers who are helping bring this varietal to the front of the California Rhone pack.

Featured Panelists:  Zac Wasserman (Frequency Wines), Sonja Magdevski (Casa Dumetz) and Cris Carter (Weatherborne).
