Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid
Chevy Volt goes 40 miles on a charge before using gas, but I think the Leaf kicks ass.
The LEAF is all electric though and so unhelpful if you decide to drive to San Francisco for the weekend or are in an area without charging stations. I know someone who got stuck in Orange County and had to sit at a Nissan dealership for a few hours before he could come home. The VOLT is really challenging for me because I’m a bit of a snob and it’s a CHEVY! It’s also $42k before tax (I just built one online). The Plug-in Prius isn’t cheap either - about $40k also fully loaded.
