This is seriously amazing BECAUSE the awesome GALE HAROLD is a complete douche-bag waiter with an unbelievably bizarre beard. He needs to work more so we can see his face again!
Eater LA is more interested in the rant by Chef Ludo Lefebvre though: “…features a performance from Los Angeles chef Ludo Lefebvre. The video makes fun of the touchy feely trappings of LA restaurant Cafe Gratitude where servers ask guests questions of the day like “What is blessed about your life?” and menu items are listed as affirmations. Funny or Die imagines what a restaurant called Cafe Attitude might be like instead; a place where service is rude and dismissive and guests are told what to order. While customers are dining, Ludo storms in demanding to know why the restaurant called him out on Twitter for no-showing, like LA restaurant Red Medicine once did. (By way of background, the chef’s new restaurant Trois Mec uses a ticketing system to fight no-shows). Ludo’s rant about hospitality is well worth a watch.”

Urban Grub
We showed up in Nashville and went straight over to a particular part of town. We saw this spot called Urban Grub and decided we HAD to go in. The food was decent but the best part was the dessert. Vanilla bean donuts with ice cream and bacon! And I can’t believe the first place we go there was a camera crew already there waiting for us!
Imogene & Willie
While in Nashville, a must-shop is Imogene & Willie. I had read about them a few years ago but hadn’t actually made it to Nashville to check them out until last week. It’s not a huge shop but they pack in lots of great stuff. From the semi-custom jeans they are known for to Warby Parker glasses, homewares and more recently Shinola products (like that orange bike) from Detroit. I picked up a toothbrush made out of charcoal that is supposed to make my teeth pearly white, a field guide of Nashville, a super cute bandana and of course, some super cool jeans. It was a good day. :)

Bestia
Bestia (beast in Italian) is getting rave reviews pretty much everywhere so you don’t really need me to tell you how amazing it is. But it is. It’s pretty damn amazing.
Bestia is the brainchild of husband and wife team Chef Ori Menashe of Angelini Osteria fame and Pastry Chef Genevieve Gergis. It’s located a bit off the beaten path in the downtown arts district but it’s worth it.
The decor is pretty spot on for where the world is going and what people want to see and be a part of. Part industrial warehouse. Part steampunk revisionist. Part twinkly lit French cafe. I loved it.
The staff was perfect. Our party was four people but someone made the reservation for two people. Instead of telling me there was nothing they could do, they figured something out and within 10 minutes or so we had a table. Love.
The food is delicious. Pastas are tasty. Pizza made me want to over-indulge. The tomato and burrata salad made me want to smother myself in it. I had to stop eating before I exploded.
I have only one gripe - it’s loud. And I’m not so old that I think every restaurant should be silent so I can have a conversation. This was LOUD. I highly recommend eating on the terrace, outdoors where the decibel level is a bit lower. The terrace is really where it’s at. Trust me. Or go with someone you don’t really like so you have a reason not to talk to them. But that just seems wrong when the food is THIS good.

The Inventor Of The Cronut Created A New Hybrid Dessert, And It’s Even Better Than The Original
A Frozen S’more from Dominique Ansel Bakery
Dominique Ansel, creator of the now-infamous croissant-donut hybrid the Cronut, just released his latest creation: the Frozen S’more.
The new treat, a hybrid of vanilla custard ice cream and a s’more, sold out just after 2 p.m. last week and Business Insider was lucky enough to get the last one. READ MORE
This whole cronut thing (and now frozen s’more) is sort of unbelievable. Who lives in NYC and is going to give us the REAL lowdown??

Why is every restaurant I go to trying to spin their decor as “bespoke” and “hip” and “down home”?
Eat+Drink Supper Club - August 10th
Boom! Another wild ride and we are SOLD OUT for Chef David Féau’s French dinner on August 10th. I only have three words:

ZING
I guess that’s really not three words, is it? :)
Barista Parlor
A few more shots from Barista Parlor in Nashville. They take their coffee very seriously - check out these machines!
Barista Parlor
So my friend Shelly Fairchild said she wanted to meet us for breakfast before we flew out of Nashville so she picked this uber-hip coffee spot for us to get together. They are pretty damn cool down there. But why does every hip, cool locale now have mason jars as glasses?
Chef Eric Nelson Brown
Remember Chef Eric? He crushed our second Eat+Drink Supper Club event with his amazing sushi. He also happens to be my cousin. At our most recent family gathering, he rustled up some amazing salsa (not pictured because everyone ate it too fast) and delish chili rellenos. My cousin Leigh appears to want to eat them all in one bite.
Family Get Together
I’m not sure what you guys were doing for the 4th of July, but most of my family got together in Tennessee this year. On the one evening it wasn’t raining, we grilled pizzas, drank some amazing Jarvis wine and then devoured my aunt’s angel food and berry cake. I have only three words:

ZING!
